In the past, if you suffered from a mental health disorder there were only two options as far as treatment was concerned. You could either go to a psychiatrist and be prescribed some form of psychotropic medication or the other option would be to go to a psychologist and undergo some form of talk therapy. In both cases, the treatments may not be as effective as you would hope. Today this is no longer the case as there have been several key updates in our understanding of the human brain and our ability to treat the disorders that affect it. In fact, a whole new field of mental health has been developed which is called applied Neurotherapy. Perhaps the leading figure in this new and exciting field of mental health is the company Neurocore. See more information about Neurocore at Linkedin.com.
Neurocore has taken several key advances in the field of neuroscience in order to create a new form of mental health that does not use psychotropic medication. Instead, it uses Neurofeedback and Biofeedback. Each of these simply takes part of your biology and uses it in order to create a feedback mechanism that ultimately will lead you to have better control over yourself and your mind. In the case of Neurofeedback, an individual is hooked up to several sensors that are able to monitor an individual’s brainwave activity in real time while they are watching a movie. This brainwave activity is then fed into the machine. This will either allow the movie to continue playing or cause the movie to stop depending on whether the user has their brainwave activity inside of their therapeutic range or not. As long as the user continues to have their brainwave activity inside of the therapeutic range they will be able to continue watching the movie. Follow Neurocore on Twitter.
The Biofeedback aspect does something that is relatively similar to the Neurofeedback aspect. The one key difference is that instead of using the patient’s brainwave activity that uses the patient’s heart rate and breathing rate. In combination over the course of 30 sessions patients are able to experience significant reductions in their symptoms without the use of heavy-duty medication.
