Dr. Mark Holterman was gifted as an intelligent student and surgical expert. Mark Holterman was born and raised in Wisconsin with a small family. Neither of his parents have any professional degrees in healthcare nor in any other industry. Instead, his parents were farmers who own a small farmland. After he graduated from high school he decided to take his skills to the next level and attended Yale University. He graduated with a degree in Biology in 1980 summa cum laude and afterwards decided to pursue a career in Healthcare. First, he attended medical school at the University of Virginia. During his time in UVA, Mark intended to become a pediatrician. However, his life has changed after he met a medical resident at the university named Ai-Xuan Le. Mark will then pursue a career as a surgeon while becoming a pediatrician. Ai-Xuan was also influenced by Mark’s pursuit of a pediatrician by becoming inspired to become a pediatric surgeon. Ai-Xuan and Mark Holterman eventually grew closer to each other to the point where they fell in love and eventually been married in 1988. After he graduated from University of Virginia with a PH.D and MD, he remained in Virginia to become a surgeon for the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center. His life’s work has taken him all across the country until he decided to become a full-time professor at the University of Illinois College of medicine.
Dr. Mark Holterman is one of the finest surgeons in the country. His work has inspired him to have found and become the CEO of Mariam Global Health. Refer to this for related reading. As an example on one of his life’s work, he performs gastroectomy to patients who have been diagnosed with morbid obesity. This prevents his patients to eat more than what they are supposed to.
