Andy Wirth Steers Squaw Valley Ski Resort to Success

Squaw Valley Ski Resort sits ten miles to the north of Lake Tahoe, at the extreme end of a beautiful U-shaped valley. This is the 2nd deepest US Lake. A bitterly cold creek and a vibrant meadow goes up to the bottom of the towering granite wall which forms the masthead to the 5 peaks collectively making up part of the Squaw Valley Ski Holdingsski resort.

Andy Wirth is currently holding the double offices of the Squaw Valley Ski Holdings President and CEO.

His Contribution to the Development of Squaw Valley Ski

Within three yearsof being at the helm, Wirth had completely cleaned house at this ski resort. The management is now more customer service focused and the Squaw Valley Ski Resort ‘lifties’ now say hello more often. He has facilitated the moving in of Starbucks with a coffee stand. In 2011, Squaw Valley Ski Holdings concluded the acquisition of the neighboring Alpine Meadows, thus unifying two of Tahoe’s best ski areas.

Appointment to Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board

At the beginning of 2016, Wirth assumed the Chairmanship of the Reno-Tahoe Regional Air Service Corporation (RASC) also becoming its President. He is also serving in the Reno Tahoe Airport Authority Board of Trustee as the Chairman. The board is made up of regional tourism entities and hotel-casino properties in the area including Reno.

Andy Wirth is also recognized for his great contributions towards community and environmental issues in the area. A near fatal skiing accident in October 2013 changed his outlook towards those who serve.

  1. Thanks for this imformative article but What you did not add is that Andy Wirth is also serving in the Reno Tahoe Airport Authority Board of Trustee as the Chairman. This is will make me buy research papers to write about how his current role as chairman is affecting us today. I know this change a lot things.
