Many hear the name Eric Lefkofsky and think entrepreneurial kingpin. By co-founding companies like Groupon, Echo Global Logistics, and Uptake Technologies, he created a foundation of success in the world of tech startup companies. Now worth $1.7 billion according to Forbes, it may seem like he’s exited the world of company building and entered a life led by less involved endeavors.

Eric Lefkofsky statement would have been true, but then his wife Liz was diagnosed with breast cancer. Oncologists at these facilities send their patients to Tempus where they are then sequenced in Tempus’ lab. This data is stored and then each patient is paired up with cancer clinical information that matched their molecular profile. This chain of events may seem like Tempus is a medical company, however, at the end of the day, it is still a tech company. It is merely driven by medical data in order to create a hub for cancer treatment methods and access. The impact for a company like Tempus will take years to see fully fulfilled.
