It’s one of those ritual things that people mistake for law, there’s a guy on the local repeater her… he must identify himself and the person he is talking to about 11 times every 4 minutes.
I am not sure if he is just nervous, forgetful, or likes to cover his butt; bless his heart for keeping on top of it though.

February 6th, 2010 at 1:22 pmWow you generated a lot of comments. Almost one for each piece of misinformation presented.
1) Why is CB in the description. It is a different radio service with different practices and goverened by a different part of the FCC regulations.
2) Random application of home made phonetics OK except this is supposed to be a how to video. NATO phonetics please.
3) Why give name location etc. before you have even made contact?
4) So what was the “how to part”? pushing the mike button? -
musiqueprof Says:
February 6th, 2010 at 1:22 pmYou don’t have to start with your call sign. Part 97 says you must identify at the end of your last transmission, and at least every 10 minutes during a QSO. There’s nothing major wrong with this video. The editing is a little jerky, and you don’t explain what a “QSO” is (although you use the term). Oh, and the description says this is on a “CB radio.” I’ve never seen CBs that operate (legally) on 20 meters!

February 6th, 2010 at 1:22 pmYou do not start with your name. YOU MUST START with your call sign PERIOD. then id every 10 minutes. And he is not using standard phonetics. That can confuse some people in other countries.
