Entrepreneur Hussain Sajwani is a UAE National. He is best known for founding DAMAC Properties, a company for which he is the chairman of the board of directors. He earned his college education at the University of Washington and his career started when he joined the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company where he worked as a contract manager. He only stayed in this position for a short time, though, as he wanted to run his own business.
His first company was one that did catering. He started this company, Global Logistics Services, in 1982 and today it is one of the market leaders. It serves more than 150,000 meals each day at places such as giant construction projects and military bases. He used some of the money he earned from this venture to establish DAMAC Properties in 2002. This company exclusively builds luxury villas, apartments, and commercial buildings.
There are DAMAC Properties developments across the Middle East. In order to further expand this company, Hussain Sajwani has
started to look to the European Union and Asia. Damac Properties built Tower Nine Elms in London. He partnered with Versace Home for this 50 story project who furnished the interiors. This building features glass, stone, and terracotta as the construction materials.
Hussain Sajwani is also pursuing Asia, particularly China, as a place he wants DAMAC Properties to do business in. China has a huge emerging middle class and a quickly growing economy that he wants to be a part of. He said that his country and China have a better relationship than ever which makes it easier for him to enter that market.
He does have two major recent projects in the UAE, though. Earlier this year DAMAC Properties put the finishing touches on a giant project that features villas surrounding an 18-hole golf course managed by the Trump Organization. He teamed up with this organization a second time for AKOYA Oxygen which will be ready to have people move in towards the end of the year. This home, located 25 minutes from downtown Dubai, has a golf course that was personally designed by Tiger Woods.
