OSI Group A World Leader In Meat Processing

The OSI Group is a meat processing company based in Aurora, Illinois. The company was founded in 1909 by Otto Kolschowski. Initially, the OSI Group started out as a high quality meat market. It grew rapidly when it took on a contract with McDonalds during its budding days, to supply their meat patties.

Today, the company employs over 20,000 men and women worldwide. It no longer only produces meat patties. The corporation currently supplies hot dogs, fish, bacon, pizza, poultry, and vegetable products to companies and food industries. The Group is the 58th largest private company in America, according to Forbes.

It has recently acquired BAHO foods, a flagship company in Europe as well as a Tyson food plant.

Tyson Chicken Plant Opens New Opportunities

The Tyson food plant located in Chicago was purchased for $7.4 million by the OSI Group. The group decided to purchase the plant, when Tyson announced that 480 jobs would be lost with the shutdown of the facility. When the group purchased the plant, there were 250 employees remaining. Many of the remaining workers were offered employment opportunities with the group upon purchase.

Purchasing the facility was a win-win for both business entities. According to the senior vice president executive of the group, Kevin Scott, the facility will enhance the groups capabilities to meet the evolving needs of their customers. Scott went on to state how excited the group was to welcome this new manufacturing network.

Tyson Foods offers a variety of meal options for the hospitality industry. The products offered by the company include meatballs, tempura chicken, omelets, crepes, sauces, chicken cordon bleu, and soups. Tyson Foods still maintains their other plants in the area, and will continue to provide other products not offered at the plant that was sold.
