Northern Hemisphere Earthquake Watch thru June 6th 2010 – AV-2010-05-30

Posted on May 30th, 2010

Astrotometry Log May 30th, 2010 approximately 14:15 UTC Earthquake Watch thru June 6th, 2010 Low solar x-ray emissions, and Astrotometry of recent coronal disturbances indicate very strong seismic activity is probable in the Northern Hemisphere in the coming week. The events may happen in two separate regions. An event over 6.5 in magnitude may occur near 15 degrees north latitude plus or minus 10 degrees. A stronger event, effecting a larger area, may occur near 30 to 40 degrees north latitude plus or minus 15 degrees. The most likely days for the events are May 31st, June 1st and June 2nd. The events are most likely to occur in quake prone regions with recent activity. The profile of the disturbance may indicate an inland continental region or landlocked island rather than an oceanic island. Exact locations, magnitudes, and dates for specific seismic events are unknown. The watch is based on theoretical modeling of solar energetic disturbances. This scientific log is publicized a service of the Cosabio Virtual Institute and is not suitable for emergency response. Emergency managers are encouraged to use all available data, including other earthquake indicators, in consideration of appropriate action. An annotated video version of this watch will be available at: youtube.com Results will be annotated at the end of this video.

Update on Earthquake Watch – AV-2010-04-04a

Posted on May 17th, 2010

AV-2010-04-04 UPDATE ~12:47 UTC : An increase in x-ray activity due to the arrival of a CME from sunspot 1059 may reduce or nullify the indication represented by the coronal hole during calming solar periods. This factor may decrease the likelihood of the watch events as it represents interference in the time-space interaction between the coronal hole and the would-be seismic events.

Earthquake Watch thru May 23rd 2010 – AV-2010-05-15.mp4

Posted on May 16th, 2010

Astrotometry Log May 15th, 2010 approximately 13:56 UTC Earthquake Watch thru May 23th, 2010 Entering a period of significant seismic activity. Weak solar x-ray emissions, an expected drop in solar irradiance, and Astrotometry of recent coronal disturbances indicate strong seismic events in the coming days. Seismic events over 6.5 in magnitude are possible in three separate regions before May 26th. The first event expected in an equatorial region, with accompanying shocks north and south of the Equator, is most probable to occur in the Ring of Fire region near the seam of the Philippine and Eurasian plates. Frequency differentiation indicates that this may be a series of quakes near enough to the surface to disturb sea water in the region. A second event, possibly of greater magnitude, centered near 32 degrees north latitude is expected to be either a deep or inland quake. The most likely locations for this event are Baja California or one of the quake prone areas near 32 degrees north latitude in Africa, Europe or Asia. A third event with possibly stronger shocks is expected near 32 degrees south latitude. The most likely locations for this event are the Eastern Border of the Australian plate or western South America. Timing of the disturbance formations indicates less than 24 hours may separate the second and third events with less than 48 hours between the first and the second. The most likely days for the events are May 16th 17th and 18th 2010. The described events ...
