My challenge to CBers is to put 10,000 watts out PEP (swing) 2,500 watts carrier (keydown), and only keep their signals 6 kilohertz wide. All three of these with the same amp and same settings. Oh BY THE WAY, do this into a proper DUMMY LOAD so you aren’t radiating your illegal power on the air! Get back to me when you do that.

February 11th, 2010 at 1:25 amYou wouldn’t know what to do if you were running 10,000 true watts of rf power. 5,000 cb watts = about 500 true watts. Sweep tubes just create splatter and rf hash. Real Eimac tubes create true wattage and a clean signal that won’t show up all the way across the scope…lol. You guys talk around the world, I can(and have)talk out of this world(ISS).

I had a cross country move from Seattle to Raleigh NC a few years back. I gave away four CB’s I had collected, since I was a 13yo kid. I don’t know what I was thinking. I could kick my self now. One was a Pearce Simpson Tube rig. Now I am into tube radios. Doha!
If I plan a road trip in the future, I’ll buy another CB. They come in handy for avoiding speed traps and speeding tickets.

I simply told him he was narrow minded and its a free country and if i want a CB in my vehicle ill have a CB in my vehicle. Well he hasnt spoke to me once since that episode. Typical crusty old curmudgeon anal retentive old timer hams……….
