These Three Organizations Take a Proactive Stance on Immigration Reform

Finding a charity to donate to can be a stressful part in an altruistic person’s life. Everyone knows that not all charities are created equal. Some organization one donate a fraction of their donations to their charitable cause. Others are completely fraudulent, only taking money from people to defraud them.

The organizations listed below are specifically focused on helping immigrants, both legal and illegal. They spend their time helping immigrants in need. Immigrants who are legal citizens of the country still face stigmas such as social issues, and work related biases.

Can The Border Divide Us?

This organization’s efforts begin by educating citizens about the realities of immigration. Can The Border Divide Us? organizations educational lectures and seminars, and they are open to the general public.

The Frontera Fund

The Frontera Fund provides educational material on their official website. This information is meant to educate immigrants on proper immigration processes, making their process easier and more tolerable.

In fact, The Frontera Fund is one of the sponsors of Can the Border Divide Us?, working together to spread awareness of the harsh realities of the immigration process.

The Frontera Fund was founded by Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, two journalists, who had their First Amendment rights violated by Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona.

Joe Arpaio was, and still is, one of the biggest opponents of immigrants in the entire country. When Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin began to expose Arpaio’s immoral, and often illegal actions, Arpaio had them arrested and thrown in jail.

As a result of violating the two journalists First Amendment rights, Maricopa County was forced to pay Lacey and Larkin almost 4 million dollars. This is how they created The Frontera Fund. Because Joe Arpaio was such an opponent of immigrants, they decided to help Hispanics in Arizona.

In total, The Frontera Fund is partnered with nearly 20 other organizations, working together to help immigrants and their families.

Border Angels

This water is picked up by illegal immigrants attempting to cross the border. Not only does this gesture let immigrants know that someone cares about them, it hydrates them, potentially warding off heat exhaustion and dehydration.

Border Angels also works to change immigration law by lobbying politicians in Congress.
